Description of the offer: A research group at a Swedish university is planning a grant application for the Horizon 2020 FET-Open research call H2020-FETOPEN-2014-2015-RIA. The application is to be submitted before cut-off date September 30th 2015. Deadline for responding to this partner search is August 15, 2015. The project envisions a new generation of intelligent and adaptive exoskeletons, to support people performing complex and heavy work related tasks. The exoskeleton will enable these people to improve and/or prolong their work performance. A first target will be for the development of force and endurances enhancing tools for professionals, such as ward workers and fire rescuers. Two areas/fields known for early adoption of new technologies are entertainment and sports. Long term, the technology will be developed for use in healthcare. The specific objects of the projects are threefold: i) to develop multi-electrodes enabling dynamic measurements of myo-electric signals from a body surface ii) to develop software tools to acquire and process data from the multi-electrodes iii) to develop actuators to translate the intentions into the force desired. The consortium intends to provide the adequate support so as to match the intentions with the power and endurance needed in the situation, all integrated in a body tight suit garment that can be worn underneath standard work clothing. Control of the suit is done through skin electrodes and sophisticated signal processing. The consortium includes strong groups in the fields of EMG/EEG electrodes, sensing and processing of myo-electric signals, as well as ergonomic and evaluation competence. They are looking to expand the consortium with a research partner, from academia or R&D institute, with competence in actuators and textiles for flexible exoskeletons.
